This course provides basic notions and concepts of bioinorganic chemistry covering the following topics: An introduction to living systems, biomolecules and the role of metals in living organisms, experimental methods in bioinorganic chemistry, oxygen transport, metalloproteins involved in oxidative stress, activation of molecular oxygen, respirartion and anaerobic organisms, enzymes with molebdenum and tungstun, alkaline earth metals, nitrogen cycle, elements of bioorganometallic chemistry, hydrolase and hydratase, metallaproteins involved in Photosynthesis, medicinal applications.
