Definition of Spectrometry

Spectrometry measures the interaction between matter and electromagnetic radiation. In the case of atomic spectrometry the matter consists of free atoms, just like me. In this interaction the structure of the atomic species being analysed is of major importance.

The energy of the electromagnetic radiation is also very important. Depending on its energy, the electromagnetic radiation can induce lots of phenomena into a terrified free atom. Click here to find more about these phenomena.
