Because of its high temperature and stability inductively coupled plasma is the best torture device in the atomic emission spectrometry. Even the atoms that usually don't talk cannot resist when put in this environment and answer all the questions. You can find out everything about them - they are as excited as they emit all their atomic lines and many of their ionic lines.
The plasma is produced in Ar medium using a radiofrequency generator and an induction coil. The Ar atoms are forced to enter a plasma torch which consists of three concentric quartz tubes. The gas flowing through the inner tube carries the nebulized sample in the plasma. The plasma support gas is tangentially introduced in the outer tube. The gas flowing through the medium tube controls the height at which plasma is produced. The induction coil creates an oscillating magnetic field which sets up an oscillating current in the ions and electrons of the support gas.
