Bachelor specializations Engineering and informatics of chemical and
biochemical processes
Domain: Chemical Engineering Teaching language: Romanian Duration: 4 years, full-time education
Description of the program

Carried out at the Bachelor level, the computer aided education program Engineering and Informatics of Chemical and Biochemical Processes, has been developed from the necessity of conforming to the strict performance demanded for the operation of the chemical and biochemical processes, task that may be accomplished nowadays by the means of the mathematical modelling, simulation, process control and optimization tools. The teaching program of this specialization merges the fundamental instruction in chemistry (physical-chemistry, organic, inorganic, analytical chemistry), followed by solid engineering education taught via chemical engineering courses (mass, heat, momentum transfer phenomena, associated to chemical reaction engineering and the specific technologies) and the application of the Computer Aided Process Engineering instruments for the modelling, simulation, monitoring, control, (integrated) design and optimization of chemical and biochemical processes.

The competences developed to the chemical engineers graduating this program are aimed to build knowledge and abilities satisfying the following job employers' needs:

  • operating, sizing and design of the industrial plants, using the Information Technology instruments, such as the Computer Aided Design and process simulator tools,
  • using, improving and integrating the monitoring and control systems for the chemical processes, based on both the traditional and computer relying approaches, in order to achieve efficient operation of the (bio)chemical processes working at the industrial, pilot and laboratory scale,
  • analysing and revealing the optimal operating and control conditions of the chemical processes on the basis of the computer aided instruments of mathematical modelling and simulation.

The curriculum of the program complies with the Recommendations for organising the chemical engineering education of the European Federation of Chemical Engineers, offering to the graduates the opportunity to access a large range of jobs, both in Romania and abroad.
