Project objectives

        The project objectives are integrated in state-of-the-art research in fields of developing low-carbon energy applications for a resource efficient economy and a sustainable supply of raw materials. These novel concepts are to be evaluated in context of improving the overall performances of existing energy systems. In this respect, the following original and innovative objectives are considered:

- Developing of dynamic models (using Matlab) for post-combustion CO2 capture plants;

- Models validation based on the experimental results obtained from the gas-solid-liquid three phase fluidized bed pilot plant;

- Assessment of CO2 capture intensification potential in case of three-phase fluidized column;

- Elaboration of the novel control strategies for the carbon capture process to be used for economic, energy efficient and environmentally friendly operation, based on advanced control of the carbon capture plant, in its association to the power plant;

- Techno-economic and environmental impact assessment in case of flexible time operation for CO2 capture processes integrated with fossil fuel-based power plants.
