Organic Chemistry Group

Three modern organic synthesis laboratories (Nr. 137, 148 and 152; 70 + 2x50 m2) at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, equipped with 7 double benches and 11 hoods, well equipped for fine organic synthesis (12 rotary evaporators, 6 double membrane pumps, 4 inert atmosphere lines, flash and column chromatography equipments, magnetic stirring plates, heating mantles, push-syringes, liquid nitrogen reservoirs, ovens, glassware and other small equipments.

Two other similar laboratories for organic synthesis (Nr. 63 and 64) are under construction at “Raluca Ripan” Institute for Research in Chemistry. Main equipments:

Prof. Ion Grosu is responsible of the Mass Spectrometry laboratory equipped with an Thermo Scientific LTQ Orbitrap XL and an Agilent 6320 LC-MS systems, working in ESI, APCI and MALDI ionisation modes.

In later years, a new Organic Solar Cell Laboratory was also equipped to fully produce and characterize Organic Solar Cells (a QUBE model Mantis Deposition System, a Newport/Oriel System for Characterization of Photovoltaics, a MTI VTC-50 spin coater, a Kla Tencor AlphaStep D-500 Stylus Profiler, a Shimadzu UV-1800 UV-VIS Spectrophotometer with an electrochemical cell kit etc.)

Organometallic Chemistry Group

Four laboratories (Nr. 119 and 270, at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Nr. 7A and 72 at “Raluca Ripan” Institute for Research in Chemistry at Babes-Bolyai University) for organometallic synthesis, fully equipped for the synthesis under inert atmosphere (modern fume hoods, argon lines with rotary vacuum pumps and digital manometers, glove box; Schlenk glassware, Kugelrohr distillation apparatus, UV reactor for synthesis, magnetic stirrer hotplates, rotary evaporators, oven dry boxes, etc).
